What's the word on Spectro 6 Speed?
So last spring I studied up on oil and tranny fluids before I serviced my 2010 Super Glide. At the time as I recall it came down to between a couple choices at least as far as the Poll was concerned. Which is a guideline I used as to the feelings on the forum. So I came back to see if thoughts have changed. To my surprise, the Spectro 6 Speed Full Syn Trans lube is not even on the poll now. It appears that it has fallen completely out of favor with the poll.
So did I miss something about the Spectro? Is it worth a crap? Something wrong with it for my SG? Seems odd that it fell off the poll.

I use it exclusively in my 5 and 6 speed HD transmissions. I get good performance put of it. I change it ever 15 to 20k miles.

FWIW, I wouldn't get too hung up on polls...

I have used it sense 2006 in 4 bikes and a lot of miles. Works well for me. I use it mainly because the HD dealer sells it at a fair price. I also like the color, not that I have had any leaks it is nice to have a color that stands out if it does you know right away what it is. I change it close to 20K and it comes out about as it when it in. Have not had one issue with it as a lube. In my 07 a bearing was replaced under warranty early on Dealer made it clear it was not a lube issue but a bad bearing.
I also use their full SYN 20/50 in the engines
Polls are generally a canned hunt . Meaningless for the most part.

Thanks guys. Yeah I know that the polls aren't the perfect way to choose a product. But WOW the thought that has to go into something as seemingly simple as an oil change is amazing to me. Like everyone else I want the best for my ride, so choose to do a little research when it comes time to change oil or whatever. So last year I studied up and went with Spectro after all of the great reviews. It just surprised me that after all I had read a year ago that it seemed to have fallen out of favor.
One of the things that convinced me on the Spectro was the claim that neutral was so much easier to find after running Spectro. After a season in my bike, I don't see a difference. Another was that it made the transmission quieter. I don't see that either.
No complaints on the Spectro. But I was considering going with Redline V Twin this year to see if it is any different. Any thoughts?

Keep trying different brands until you find the one that does what you want it to. I use store brand gl-5 rated gear oil in the trans, and I like how it shifts and how neutral is easy to find. I run 15/40 wt diesel oil in the primary. Its lighter then 20/50 and doesn't cause the clutch plates to grab. That helps stop the 1 st gear bang alot of people have. Choose what ever brand you want. I like using cheap oil that does the same or better, as expensive oil. But that just me. You don't have to use any particular brand , just find one you like.,,
