Default oil cap blown off

I recently Purchased a 2000 Electra Glide. The bike has the very best of everything and is 117 in. mountain motor by Axtell. Needless to say it run like a screaming banshee. I recently decided to put it on a Dyno just to check it out. It performed well at 110 hp and 120 foot pounds of torque. However on the last run the oil filler cap blew out. It is a harley davidson temp version. I just figured winding it up so tight on the dyno just blew it out, clean up the oil and no harm done. I have riden the bike some since with no problems and nothing out of the ordinary until last night. I got the bike out and road about 5 miles and the cap blew out again. When I say out I actually mean loose and of courseoil blows out as well all over everything. Can anyone give me some insight as to possible causes for this.

Default RE: oil cap blown off

I think there was a post on here about someone overfilling the oil reservoir on a bike and the oil filler cap blew off. I can't remember who it was or what kind of bike it was. Check your oil after the bike is completely warm and if the level is way over the "Fill hot" mark, it might have too much oil in it. From what I've read you usually would see oil in the air breather from too much oil, also. Sorry I can't offer much more than that.

Beside me wouldnt be bad but behind is another story.LOL I changed the oil yesterday and bought a new oil filler cap at HD. I rode last night with no problems. Im thinking maybe the oil tank was to full as well. Hopefully that is all that is was the problem. I havent seen any oil in the air cleaner though.

Thanks for the input
