I use the HD orange gadget with drain hose but leave bike on jiffy stand and poke holes in filter. A beer or two later and filter is drained, remove with no mess.

Once you get your modified soda bottle ready, use your rechargeable drill motor and drill a 1/4" diameter hole in the bottom front of the filter. Then push the soda bottle in place, let the filter drain, then remove the filter. Most of the oil in the filter will drain thru that hole. Whatever is left will not be an issue.
On edit: I use a center punch to place a nice dimple where the drilled hole is going.

This green thing really works well... It's called something like a "Form-A-Funnel." I think I got it on Amazon...
It's completely flexible in every direction, and I can actually remove/replace the filter without oil getting on the bike at all, provided I take some care locating/bending it initially, and am careful not to knock it around at all...
I think it's just a sheet of very thin steel covered in plastic.

I installed a Jerzee Customs JC-9100TC oil pressure gauge on my '13 when she was brand new; the addition of the Jagg oil cooler and now the oil filter relocation have shown no changes to oil pressure at all
