Default Alternative Oil Filter

Whatcha all use for an alternative oil filter as opposed to the standard black one of HD's? One that is similar in shape on the end?
Went to the dealer today in Sturgis, same one in Rapid City and a straight black one was $12 friggin' bux!! I kid you not!!
I'm like WTF??
Ain't happening...

I will never understand people.... In your signature you ride what amounts to a 30k bike. Yet, you are complaining about a $12.00 oil filter.

I started using a Pro Flo cleanable filter. Some will say they're not worth it. YRMV.

Prior to that I used the K&N filter. KN171C
There is a WIX that some swear by.

To answer the OP, I've started using the K&N. With the nut on the end.

Just ordered 4 on Amazon; $9.72 each for chrome, free shipping. Gotta love Prime!

Never forget JC Whitney's toilet paper roll filter.

But, yeah I've gotten the chrome K&N with the nut on the end on Amazon.

KN171C is a good chrome one and easy off and on. HiFlo makes as good, with the nut for a few bucks less. I use the oil filter from D2Moto, Volar OF-15 which is the generic labeled HiFlo. I get them for about $3.50 each, free shipping, no tax and 35% several times a year. I buy 'em 6 at a time because they go on back order. They have a bypass and back flow valve, and a nut welded on. I have used them for 4 years, no issues. Only avail in black.

Going with this one;
Amazon Amazon
K&N KN-171B Harley Davidson/Buell High Performance Oil Filter
$8.48 Shipped

Looks to be better too. Like the idea of a nut on the end of it to tighten it a opposed to a strap or the two HD wrench's that I am aware of the billet one and the other one.

I use the K&N in black because black filters are faster....Everybody knows that. Get them at Amazon.
