Default mobil 1 15/50

hi

Thinking fo doing my own services on my 08 fatboy.
I cant see 20/50 mobil or amsoil where i live so I am thinking of using 15/50 motor oil.

I can getmotorsport syn mobil 1 and its rare but I have also seen 15/50 4t
the 15/50 motosport syn is a cheaper and easy to get option what are you using and any advise would be apreciated

Go to walmart and get the Mobil1 15w50. $22 for the big jug. You will never use anything else. Get 75w90 Mobil1 for your trans.

M1 15W-50 is goodstuff- I've used it with great results.

Look for the Mobil 1 V-twin motor oil for your bike. I haven't seen it at Wally World try it at your auto parts store.

Mobil 1 15W-50 is good stuff, and used by the majority of folks I know, with many of them having used it in their engines for 80,000+ miles.

Your engine will be just as happy running Mobil 1 15W-50 synthetic oil at $4.00 a quart as it would be running Mobil 1 20W-50 V-Twin synthetic,which costs twice as much.

Yep. Here's a virgin oil sample of each, tested by CTC Analytical Services of Phoenix, AZ and reported in a recent issue of Full Throttle magazine::

Silicon: M1 15W-50: 9ppm M1 V-Twin 20W-50:10ppm
Boron: M1 15W-50: 228ppm M1 V-Twin 20W-50: 188ppm
Sodium: M1 15W-50: 13ppm M1 V-Twin 20W-50: 3ppm
Magnesium: M1 15W-50: 43ppm M1 V-Twin 20W-50: 538ppm
Calcium: M1 15W-50: 2464ppm M1 V-Twin 20W-50: 1899ppm
Phosphorus: M1 15W-50: 1193ppm M1 V-Twin 20W-50: 1142ppm
Zinc: M1 15W-50: 1315ppm M1 V-Twin 20W-50: 1352ppm
Molybdenum: M1 15W-50: 90ppm M1 V-Twin 20W-50: 0ppm

seems that the only major difference is the amount of Magnesium in the v twin oil is this a major worry.

I would like to see the difference betwen the hd stock oil and M1 15/50
