Default Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer

Will a product such as Lucas oil stabilizer make an oil such as H-D Syn 3 better? H-D oils have a reputation as not being the best stuff, good not great. So would adding a stabilizer improve it any. Would it improve even say Amsoil synthetic? I,ve also read that this stuff gets rid of that sewing machine sound that some H-D bikes make. Thanks for any input.

Lucas oil stabilizer is just a thicker oil with a very weak additive package. It will quiet your engine because it is thicker...but a straight 50 or 60w oil will do the same thing without diluting the additives in your oil. Lots of guys use it but I wouldn't. Lucas will not make any oil better. You will get less mechanical noise with a mineral base oil like HD360 than you will with synthetics. But the usual Harley mechanical noise is no indication of wear in your engine.

I would substitute a quart of HD360 50w for the lucas and see what happens or go to a 20w60. But with a thicker oil in cold temps you are going to get more cold start wear on your engine.

no additive will help that cheap harley syn 3

really the harley syn 3 is crap made by citgo its only a blend and a bad one at that

try amsoil 20/50 in the motor and primary and 75/90 sevear gear in the tranny

nice smooth shifting and runs cooler-ride safe

+1. Viscosity is the answer, not additives.
