Two weeks ago when it was time for an oil change, I went shopping for Mobil 1. I had been driving about 18 miles over to the next small town to an Autozone for it but when I checked with them, they were out of stock and wouldn't have any for a few days.
The next day (Saturday) I went to the Autozone 1 mile from my house just for the hell of it. In the past they told me they didn't stock it but I get hard headed sometimes. It just so happened that on that day the guy who said "May I help you?" was the district manager. I told him what I was looking for. He checked inventory, showed to have 6 bottles but they couldn't find it. The district manager wasn't familiar with the store since he wasn't there on a daily basis and the teenage girl who was working there wasn't any help.
So the DM got on the phone and called around to a few other stores. Here's the trick. When he asked them to check their oil rack for Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50, he got the same response I had in the past, kinda like the "deer caught in the headlights" thing and a "Never heard of it" answer. Then he asked them to check for the oil by the "SKU" number and he gave them the number. Bingo, we have a winner!!! I drove to the next closest Autozone, picked up my oil and had the job done before lunch.
So it appears the thing to do is to ask for the oil by the Autozone SKU number, which is 153232. Like most of us people, our motor oil is known only as a number.

Hey NeckBall..............thanks for that info..............wish I would have seen this thread earlier. Went to an Autozone this morning and didn't see any Mobil 20W-50 oil at all.
I went to Autozone today and bought Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50. However, I had to ask for it. They had a small storage location for it out front with the oil but, I didn't even see it until one of the folks that worked there pointed it out. They went in the back and checked and had 1 case of it (6 quarts).
The character of our Nation as a people is defined by those who daily put on a uniform and at their own peril defend it. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. For without them we would surely live in tyranny.
Most Autozone stores should have it hanging on the oil rack in a metal wire basket about chest high. There is also some 2 cycle oil on the same rack. Otherwise they may have it in the back but it should be on display in front of the oil rack hanging in a basket.

The day I was in Autozone shopping for oil,. that is exactly where the division manager looked, hanging in the wire basket in front of the rest of the oils. The wrong oil was in the place labeled for the Mobil 1. He called 3 other stores, told them all where to look, same wire basket in the same location, they all either had an empty basket, wrong oil in it or no basket at all. That's when he had them do a stock check by SKU number.

Same here....been by the "zone" before and didn't see any, assumed they just didn't carry it here. Well I stopped in the other day and the girl was putting out oil. I asked her if they carried v-twin. She went in the back and sure enough, found 6 quarts.
