Default Switching from Conventional Oil to Synthetic

I have a 2000 Ultra with 13,000 miles and an 08 Heritage with 13000 miles. I am considering the switch to synthetic and had a couple of questions.
1) Is it ok to do this and do I need to make a couple of early oil changes to "clean out" the conventional?
2) do I need to switch the primary and tranny oils as well?
3) any other pitfalls/advantages?

Just change the oil as usual and don't worry about it. No need to flush. The two types of oil are fully compatible. You don't have to switch the primary and tranny, but can if it makes you feel better.

You can run synthetic GL5 gear oil 15,000 miles in your trans. Which is cheaper than changing dino every 5000

As long as you're not using or leaking now...no reason you can't switch. Not sure what brand you're thinking, but if any chance it's Amsoil, we have a warehouse right there in Richmond. I can let you know how to just walk in and buy at cost if interested.

I am going to use the Amsoil. I didn't know there was a warehouse here. I would love to go there. Please let me know.
