Default Mobil-1 15w-50 at Walmart

I stopped by 2 Walmart stores today where I usually buy my oil, looking to pick up a couple of 5 quart jugs of 15w-50 and was surprised to see that the shelf space for Mobil-1 oils has been drastically reduced in both stores (One was a Superstore). There was no 15w-50 or 20w-50 in either single quarts or the 5 quart jugs. No empty shelf space or shelf price tag for it either.

Anyone else run into this yet at Wally World? I hope they are not phasing it out, but it sure looks that way.

Here they have the 15w50 but no 20w50. But Advance Auto Parts had the Vtwin 20w50 on sale for $7.99/qt.

When they opened the Superstore locally and closed the old store 15w 50 disappeared. Almost made me cry because although the 6-packs of qts were the usual price they had been mismarking the single qts @ $3.74 for YEARS! Used to wheel a cartful up to the register.

Mobil discontinued the Mobil 1 15w50 last year and then brought it back due to popular demand. It's the same situation at every WalMart. I would suggest asking the auto dept manager to please begin stocking it again. Next time I'm up at my stor I plan to do just that. The local Autozone is carrying it again, but at closer to $30 for the large jug

FWIW. Autozone has a special on this month for 5 qts of Mobil1, any grade, and a Mobil1 oil filter for $29.99. I got 5 qts of 15w50 to use in the bike and a filter for my truck. It's a pretty good deal

Hi, cHarley I noticed the same thing today while at My Wal-mart. I will plan on telling Him to stock some of the 15w-50 for the 2wheel Wal-mart shoppers . Hell I use to use Amsoil when it was $6 per but now it's closer to $11 after tax. I have 1 jug of the Mobil 1 15w-50 in the garage for My next oil change tho. .....WVleo

FWIW Wal Mart will not stock items on request of the customer. All their items are tracked out of Bentonville (HQ) on a sales basis and a computer survey. If it doesn't sell enough, they won't stock it. Managers can't even override the system. Big Brother in AR has the only and final say.

Checked my Walmart. It's gone. Walmart is not a specialty shop and is ruthless about pulling slow moving items and using shelf space for something that sells better. I don't blame them. It's one of the ways they are able to keep their prices so low. But I guess it's time to look elsewhere.

Thanks guys. I stopped at yet another (the 4th) Walmart the other day and was surprised to find a shelf stocked with 12 of the 5 quart jugs of the 15w-50. Being on the bike I could only carry 3 jugs, but I'll be going back tomorrow for more.

I guess ya just gotta get em and stock up, where and when ya find them.

Getting a specific oil from WalMart is a crapshoot at best. I don't go there but once every two or thee months, but always check the oil shelf and grab it if they go it whether I need it or not. 15W-50 in any flavor can't be a fast mover.
