Cool, tell me about the last one you saw! What was the lack of oil change failure you witnessed?

I use mostly dino oil and change it and the filter every 5 k, the primary goes 10k and the trans goes 20k just like the book says. I say mostly because I got a bug up my butt and bought Syn3 20w50 last time to see if I noticed any difference. I didn't and will go back to HD360 next time. Modern oil, machinery tolerances in manufacturing and metallurgy just don't require more frequent oil changes.

It's your bike and your money though so do as you please, I've got 27k trouble-free miles in just under 2 years so far on my 08 FLHT so I'm comfortable following the factory schedule

LOL, id never get anywhere changing it that often.

I;m with you. My last road trip was 3200 miles. I'd spend more time wrenching than ridin.

Manual says 5000. I change tranny and primary every other. Works for me.

Engine: 5000 synthetic, 3000 dino or annually
Primary 5000 or annually
Trans 15-20,000 with gear oil or every 3 years

Any more than that is a complete waste.
