Tried Amsoil - am I imagining a difference?
Now that my bike is out of warranty and I have no fears of using anything other than Syn3 , I decided to give Amsoil a try.
Went with 20-50 for the motor and 75-140 for the trans. First ride after the change was all highway, going 170 miles at about 75mph on cruise control mostly.
Gotta say that the bike never seemed to like 6th gear much unless I got her to 80+. After this recent switch, she seemed to pull better and the motor/trans sounded better at lower revs in 6th.
I could be imagining this I suppose, so I'm wondering if others have had this same experience? Needless to say, I'm very pleased so far.

If you were using 20w50 syn3 in your transmission and switched to a 75w140 gear oil then you are experiencing the difference with a gear oil. 85w140 dino rotella gear oil for $3/quart at Walmart would give you about the same result. The heavier 140w viscosity gear oil will dampen gear noise & vibration substantially over a 50w motor oil.
