HD Syn 3 oil
#21
Heck I will be 64 in a couple months.
Had already forgot about this.
And forgot where I found out about it. Had a individual who is in the field to tell me who had been making it.
Sorry
I do know a bike had been ran with nothing but Syn3 oil. was torn down and it was in super clean condition and very little wear at 65,000 miles.
Cam chain tensioners on a 2010 SE SG was nearly wore at 44,000 with sun 3 oil.

Syn3 is good oil or Harley engineers would not approve it.Citgo is good oil and it is Your option to use it or not.Your Motorcycle doesn,t care about politics.
You decide what works for You.My preference is Mobil 1.When something better arrives I may change My opinion and You can too.

The only thing wrong with Syn III is it's priced too high for what it is. There are other premium oils being sold for more, and they have better additive packages. I use oils that meet or excede's what the moco says to use. They are not the most expensive oils being sold, they do the job just as well. Motorcycle oils aren't tested and certified like car oils are, so to pay top dollars for them to me is foolish. But we live in a free country so use whatever floats your boat.,,

Citgo did have the HD oil contract for many years maybe they changed in the last year or two. But Syn3 is not Mobil1. Dealer techs will tell you anything to get you to buy their stuff. When Harley Davidson first came up with Synthetic they wanted Exxon Mobil to brand Mobil1 with a HD logo on it. Exxon Mobil refused. They will not degrade their marketing label Mobil1 by adding anyone elses logo to it. I don't blame them either.

The logo is there because it meets GM's Dexos1 spec AND Mobil pays the licensing fee. I made that point due to someone stating that Mobil wouldn't degrade Mobil's marketing label by ADDING someone else's logo with it. And that is exactly what Mobil has done and they are paying to do it.
