Default Wix Oil Filters now made in Mexico...

Just received some oil filters for my Evo, Wix 51215.

They are labeled Made in Mexico.

I`ve been using Wix filters for over 20 years (I`m kind of a fanatic about buying US made products). This is the first filters I have seen that were not USA made.

Many of the things around you are made overseas, including the computer you are using! My Dell was made in Ireland, probably from mostly Chinese components. If Wix filters are made to the same specifications as before there shouldn't be a problem.

I've owned Harleys since the 70s, but not being American I keep an open mind on where stuff comes from that I use on my Harleys! I would never ride on US made tyres, to start with.....

My point is that the job of making that filter went from the US to Mexico...

Since 1971 I have ridden only on Dunlop tires.

Dunlop is the only company that makes motorcycle tires in the USA.

I understand that. Unfortunately it is happening throughout the Western world, including here in Europe. We can only hope that our entrepreneurs are finding other ways of keeping us employed.

My wife and I shipped our Glide to the USA in 2003, to take it back home for the Centenary. We had a great time and she decided she would like a leather vest (we call them waistcoats!). We lost count of how many Harley dealers we visited, going through their racks of vests. We eventually found just one odd one the right size, a different style to the others we had seen, the only one we found made in the USA! Sad but true. How much beef does the USA eat?!

I prefer Avon tyres - made in the UK!

I make a big enough mess in my garage as it is...

I`m pretty sure the H.D. filters are US made.
