IIRC fill to the bottom of the threads in the filler hole. Does your bro have the factory service manual?! It's a great.........

I put Amsoil 20W50 in all three holes. The clutch seemed to be smoother however the bike developed a shifting issue. It would go into neutral when shifting from first to second taking up to three attempts to get into second. Initially I thought it was operator error but later indications were that it had a bent paw or a damaged gear. Decided that the only thing that had changed since this problem started was using 20W50 as tranny fluid. Changed the 20W50 to Mobil1 75W-140 and it hasn't missed a shift since.

tranny oil
Looking for some feedback...I have a 2001 HD RK FLHR with about 64000 miles. Been using Mobil 1 75w90 for a long time, until recently I tried Red Line Heavy Shockproof. Honestly, I see no difference in any characteristics between the M1 and the Red line. I'm very mechanically proficient, riding all my life, and have been in the auto and motorcycle service/repair/parts industry for 30 years. Anybody else agree or disagree?
With that said, I found a new unopened quart bottle of Red line 75w90 full synthetic High Performance GL5+ Hypoid gear oil...wondering if I could put that in my gearbox?

The 5 speed transmission does not require any special lube, it will run fine with any gear lube you choose. It does not need the thick heavy goop...
That Redline stuff you have is fine.

That one is exactly the same as Red Line Heavy Weight ShockProof. Good stuff.
