What Primary Oil is your Choice
#481
Rotella t 15/40 in the primary. It's cheap, doesn't cause clutch plate drag like 20/50 wt does, and it makes for just a click sound when shifting into first. Why anyone with a Harley worries about a Japanese oil standard is beyond me.,,,

Put the amsoil primary fluid in with half bottle of STP. I really like it almost shifts as good as the trans fluid. Like it so much next time will try without STP. It looks like oil kinda like 20-50 but is sticky & slippery at the same time.
My tripple blend of trans, STP & t6 actually did real well as far as not have alot of shiny metal in it, like the trans fluid alone did(aluminium). Checked the clutch & it didn't need adjusted at all.
If this amsoil was easer to get would of tried it sooner. It's what I will be sticking with in primary for now on. Just not sure how long I'll let it go. Thinking if holds up change it every other oil change, I change oil every 2000 - 2500 & have done it less. Trans should be good for 10,000 with the amsoil gear 75-140.

Primary chain case lubricant
I'm going to start changing my own fluids and have learned much from this forum.
When it comes to the primary chaincase lubricant you use motor oil?
I will be using Mobil 1 v-twin for the engine.
I can use same for Primary?
Thank you

Sure thing. I run Redline in crankcase and tranny and use 10wx40 regular Valvoline in the primary. For the most part, all there is in the primary is a chain and the clutch plates. JMO

It's curiosity The LiquiMoly arrived last night and if we were not under a winter storm warning right now I'd go out and try it today, the only way you can ever know something to do it. The LiquiMoly 4T may be no different than the Mobil 1 4T and if so I'll go back to the Mobil 1 4T and save myself some money: Mobil 1 4T $9.50/quart, LiquiMoly 4T $23/liter (1.0566 quart).
It may be even better than the Mobil 1, but the only way to know is to put it in the primary and take her for a ride. I'm the same way with the mapping, I'm not a 'close enough' sort of person; I've continued to make subtle alterations and improve it. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong but the fun is in the doing and trying to get ever closer to the bleeding edge

Mobil 1 ATF. You owe it to yourself to try it. After Harley specific primary lube, this was like pouring a little slice of heaven in my primary
Neutral? You're there on the first try?? WOWWWWWW
