Default 1991 fxr oil filter housing

i recently picked up a 1991 fxr and there is a leak from what appears to be the oil filter housing. when i reached to check the tightness of the filter the whole housing moved quite a bit. obviously this is not normal. how do you tighten the housing and are there any gaskets or parts that should be replaced while doing this repair? any feedback would be very helpful. thanks and safe riding!

The filter housing is a simple alloy casting held on with a single bolt. You should be able to see the head of it on the swingarm mounting, at the rear of the tranmission casing. I only recently fixed mine. I suggest removing it, to clean up the threads, then loctite the bolt back in.

If you don't have one I can heartily recommend the factory service manual, available from your local friendly dealer!
