Default 95 CI question

Working on a friends 2000, 95 CI FLHTC. He bought it with the 95 in it.
It was ticking out of the blue one day so we replaced the lifters and hydraulic tensioners. Still was ticking so tore it back down and put in a feuling oil pump.
All is fine until it gets warm then it starts ticking again. We are using 20w-50 Amsoil. Is it possible the Amsoil is to slippery? Has anyone run a thicker oil than 20w-50?
