Default synthetic oil

I have read the posts on synthetic oil. I'm getting ready to start using synthetic oil in my 2005 1200 sportster. I just need some clarification if possible as a lot of answers seem to be geared towards specific bikes. For my bike....I'm thinking Amsoil is the most popular...so DO I get the standard Amsoil 20-50 that Amsoil has and use it for both the oil and primary? There isn't any other place on a sportster to use the synthetic oil, right? Is there a difference between the amsoil 20-50 and what I've seen Syn3? Maybe that is just HD's type of synthetic oil? I guess I'm just being extra careful.

You are correct. The AMSOIL 20/50 is all you need for the Engine, Primary and transmission, if it has one. I am not to familiar with the sportsters but I do know the oil works just fine in all three hole. Syn3 is Harleys brand of Synthetic oil but it is not made by Harley. I can assure that your engine will run a lot better and quieter on the AMSOIL. If you need help finding AMSOIL let me know and I will help you

What he said.....my 2005 Sporty ran great on synthetic. BTW, the Amsoil is better than the Syn3 in my opinion.

Great...thanks.. I did change everything out with Amsoil, beats me, it seems my bike shifts easier and sounds better! I've decided to become an Amsoil dealer!
