Go to www.Schaefferoil.com. click on retail locator to find distributor in your area.Use 20w 50 in the crankcase. You will see a 20-30 degree drop in temps!!!!!

You already lost some oil. If you think you've got about 3 quarts left. Start it and run it in neutral. Check to make sure you have oil returning to the tank. That's a must. Once that is OK, it was just an overfill issue.

If it was mine, I'd dump all the oil and start again with just 2.5 quarts. Run it; wait until it cools off; check level, then add the .5 quart. Your bike take 3 quarts normally.

Dumping the whole would let me see if there is anything it in. I would go so far as to cut the filter in half and check it out. You may have a chain tensioner broken into pieces and making trouble. This is getting off course, but try cheapest solution first. Good luck.

Im guessing before draining it, id have to let the bike idle so that the oil comes back to the oil tank. If the oil is still in the casing then i wouldnt get much out correct ?
