Default troubleshooting

Hi all, I've got a '65 pan that has decided I need to love her a little more before I can ride her again.
I pulled her out on a 65 degree day, used the richener to start, idled that way for three to four minutes, the shut the richener off and let her warm up at a rough little idle. I went in the house to get my gear, and after about five minutes I went outside to slow the idle a little. She shut down just before I got there. I fired her back up, heat felt good, and off I went. She got me about half a block before a cough, a sputter, then died.Used the button to start her up, sounded fine, but as soon as I gave a little throttle, she coughed and died again. This went on till my dumb *** had drained the battery, and even the kicker wouldn't get her going. I inherited this beautiful bike, so I'm not sure what all has been done. I do know that she's got a full rebuild(s&s) I've put about 700 miles on her. Super E carb, and a slight exhaust leak on the rear jug. I did have to put new points in her to get going originally.
Does this sound like a points/plugs /fouled type of situation? I see from this forum that it is fairly common on the Pans. Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance, I live in Washington, and God has been teasing me with a longer than usual riding window this fall.

I've had that problem before and would go along with the last thread...the fuel cap. Pop her off, put your lips to the metal, give her a little puff of air to clear out any air in the line and go.

Check the gas flow from the tank to the carb Maybe some crap in the tank to prevent good flow

With the S&S it's possible the float valve is sticking, have had that problem, it will trickle enough to start and run but the bowl empties and it dies. Justa thought.
