Finally got the fender painted
It has been a long hot summer down here in the desert. Too long and hot to paint properly, but I got the bug in me to remove the stock tail light from my 04 Sporty and fill the area. I rode around with it half painted, half primered for a while and then the temp dropped for about 4 days and I thought I had my window.
I pulled it off, shot some primer and then hit the gloss black. It looked terrible. Too close to 80 degreees, nasty egg shelling. So I started shooting and color sanding, and after 4 coats, I got a good base.
Now all I needed was something closer to 70 degrees to shoot the 2K clear. Got my chance yesterday. It needs to be wet sanded and rubbed out, but I am happy with the results:
The 2K required its own spray booth, so I picked up some 1 X 3 and 3 mill plastic sheeting. Took about an hour to cobble it together:
I covered the entire thing in plastic, stapeled it down and cut a slit as an entrance. Worked real fine.
Tank and front fender are next now that the weather is about to break. Not too bad for rattle can...
