restoration help on paint color

Not sure about bikes as modern as 1973, but I do know the older bikes have no method of identifying original paint color. Nothing in the VIN to identify. The best you can do is find a list of colors that were correct for your model and year, and then pick the one you like. Maybe someone here knows better then me about 1973. I am sure they had a blue that year, find the paint code and go for it. Good luck.

You can contact HD Customer Care, give them the VIN and they can give you two or three pieces of info about the bike; not much but it they will verify that the VIN is good and tell you the original color that it had shipped from the factory. I do not know if they have the paint code but they do have the color ...

Here is a cool article about the first Harley assembled at the York plant. It is a 1973 xlch in Sunburst Blue.
