Default Please help-powder coat cleaning?

Ok so here's the deal....I recently had all off y chrome powdercoated...it came out great except one problem....when the guy was done he wrapped them in some sort of plastic shrink wrap to protect them....it stuck in certain areas and it is very difficult to remove....it was wrapped for a few months and I think that was why some of the plastic decided to stick....anyway I called the powdercoater who advised me to maybe try a hairdryer. It didn't do jack....I don't want to use anything abrasive that might scratch it and am unsure if chemicals are really that safe.....anybody ever run into something similar?...its a real bitchtotryand and get this stuff off....Ryan

Powder coat shouldn't be very delicate. I suggest something like Prep-All, which you would use to clean a sanded surface before painting. It shouldn't harm the paint and will hopefully loosen the plastic. Of course, your mileage may vary, so test it on a hidden area, if possible.

Test that stuff on a hidden spot if you can.
The powder coat I use can be removed with a stripping chemical and some brake cleaners will damage it. How about WD40? I am amazed at all the uses for it.
