Default Powder coating safe for cast wheels?

I have stock cast wheels on my 2017 883. I would like to have them powder coated black. But I have read that the heating process during coating can weaken and or crack the wheel.
Any truth to that? Any recommendations on powder coaters that specialize in motorcycle wheels?

Not ever heard that. They don't get that hot really as heating metal goes

Powder coating shouldn't hurt wheels, but remove the wheel bearings as they can get cooked.

I have no idea if there is any truth to it but a wheel is definitely something I wouldn't want to weaken.

OK, I read it and if I am reading it correctly. It does effect it but not enough to hurt anything. Am I correct?

Hammer,
Sorry it took so long to get back to this post but yes that about sums it up. I take in wheels like this but usually get powder that is lower then 400f to do the job. You can also cure it at lower temps for longer times. Hope this helped

Depends what kind of wheels you have. If you have spokes you need to pull the wheel completely apart. You will only be having the rim coated. if it's a full mag wheel you need to pull the bearing apart.

I suggest finding a coater and ask them. I have been coating for about 10 years now as a "hobbiest" I have a 3'x3'x3' oven and can coat anything that fits. I prefer people not prepping parts before they bring them to me. 99% of the time they look terrible when I get them. I also am not interested in pulling your spokes out or repacking your bearing either.

Best to ask the coater before you do anything.
