Default Painting fork legs

Do I need to sand the cast aluminum legs before painting? Or will the paint hold without?

Parts should be cleaned, sanded, degreased then if parts are bare metal they should be coated with an etching primer or an epoxy primer then painted.

There is no difference whatever we paint, preparation is everything! Alloy castings like sliders will benefit from a suitable primer, as 'death trap' suggests.
