Default Peanut tank repaint estimates???

I'm looking to having my peanut tank repainted because I'm not too crazy for the current sportster graphic. I wish I could just remove the graphic but its cleared over. My only other solution is to have it professionally done if I want it done right. I've been getting prices from $400 to $600 to just have the tank shot it the stock vivid black with no graphic. Is this the going rate?

sounds about right to be honest, that is what you would pay out here. we could prob do better than that in powder

I paid $150 to have mine painted a custom green color by a shop that does classics & hot rods. No way I'd pay what they're asking!!!

Id gladly pay $150 but I believe a quart of good name paint is around $100 alone, without labor. Shop rates here are about $110 hr. Most shops here get about $1000 to paint up a set of tins and Ive gone to 6-7 painters. I think its reduculous, but thats what the going rate is here in NY.

I know $400 sounds high but if they supply the materials around $100 and there shop rate is $110hr thats less than 3hrs to sand, prime, sand, seal, paint, clear, sand and buff. I know a peanut tank is small but it still takes time.

I guess I need to stay in good w/my local painter!!! He mixed the paint in 3 different shades, had me pick which shade I liked best, sanded the black & 'Sportster' sticker off, primed, painted my tank & 4 coats of clear. Had it back to me in 2 days looking 100% perfect!!

You could go to ppg and have them mix a spray can of vivid black and do it yourself for under a hundred bucks.
