Had the same batch of parts coated by two different powder coating companies. Which one looks better to you? The first powder coater doesnt seem to think there is anything wrong with his work. Opinions welcome......

First guy

Second guy

I used to powder coat but haven't done it in a few years. so take my opinions lightly.

First one looks like a dirty powder. A little contamination.

Second one looks like a little heavy on the powder. Too much applied.

Either one looks alright depending on where the part is going on the bike.

Yea, I think there was dirt in the first coaters work as well.

I am super happy with the second coaters job though, which by the way thought the same thing you did. Dirty work.

The part is my fuel tank panel, so its extremely visible and is currently on the bike.

I'm not sure it's all dirt in the first one. It almost looks to me like he didn't let it completely cure. Some powders get real grainy looking (like a football) right before they reach flowout temps in the oven.

Yea, this batch of stuff definitely had a grainy, surface to them. The stuff that was shiny in this same batch had what looked like pimples in it.
