Default 1997 FXSTC tranny fluid questions

I am no mechanic by any means, but I am going to do whatever maintenance I am able to do on my bikes. At minimum, I plan on changing fluids in all 3 holes. The Bike has V&H Big Shots, not the stock pipes. It appears they may need to be removed to change the tranny oil? I can't see/feel the drain plug and I'm guessing the pipes are in the way. Also, the service manual says to use a T40 bit to remove the plug for a FLSTS, but doesn't specify w/ a FXSTC. Same sized bit or different? Thanks.
Dave
