I have a 99 Sporty 1200S. When upshifting into third gear, unless I do it slow and "deliberate' (if that makes sense) the gear will grind. Doesn't happen in any other gear, or when downshifting. Anyone have any ideas?

 

I'd check the shifter pawl adjustment first, if not that then I'd pull the gearset and make sure the dog teeth on the third pair are not rounded off.
