Default Raise gearing on 1200 Sportster

So I have a 2001 1200 custom and generally stick to back roads simply because the bike does not seem to be geared quite high enough for highway cruising (65-75). If possible at all, what is the most simple and direct method to get a higher overall gearing ?

Hi Rick, you'll find that your bike is perfectly capable at travelling at highway speeds and will do so quite happily. It is you we have to take care of! The best tuning aid known to mankind is the ear plug. You should try a pair, if you never have, as you will find the reduction in noise discomfort will increase your effective cruising speed. I've been wearing them on my various Harleys for 40 years! By the way, your bike will exceed 100mph with ease, but it will get darned noisy, from the roar of the passing wind mostly.
