lost woodruff key

Default lost woodruff key

i cannot find the woodruff key for the transmission shaft on my 84 fxr which has a 98 evo engine by the way. where can i buy one or will i have to have it machined ?

You can buy key stock at any good auto parts store. Just measure the size of the keyway and buy that size stock and cut a key to fit.

Are you sure it didn`t drop into the transmission?

Start with a 605 flat bottom woodruff key (3/16 x 5/8) then file the height to fit the key way in the hub.

Up to early `84 the Moco used the standard woodruff key, if you ask the parts guy at the dealership for this, you will just get a funny look...
