Default 2007 Heritage Belt 133 to 131 tooth

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I have enough adjustment clearance on my rear wheel to install a 131 tooth belt when stock is 133 tooth. I have a 131 tooth on hand and i cant measure the difference with my 133 tooth because it is snapped in half, thanks

Probably not IMHO, you need to be able to move the axle forwards in the swingarm roughly the same distance as the pitch of the belt (from one tooth to the next).

The axle movement will be half of whatever is added or subtracted. Is that what you are saying?

I would first have to ask why you are replacing a 133T belt with a 131T? I suppose the reason is that you have the 131T on hand and don't want to shell out the $$ for a new belt? Here is an easy to handle calcuator provided by Gates. Use 14mm for "belt pitch" and 1890mm for "belt pitch length". Varying the tooth count will give you an idea of the difference in pulley to pulley distance ("center distance"). Varying the belt length ("belt pitch length") will give you an idea of the difference in center distance (you can interpolate the result for smaller than provided differences in belt length).

http://www.gates.com/catalogs-and-re...ion-calculator

IIRC, one tooth change in belt length moves the axle .125"; see how that squares up with the calculator; I would rely on the calculator and not my memory. You know what they say; "that's the first thing to go" with us old farts but not sure I believe that.

Default checked BDL website

I checked BDL's website and they did not list your exact pulley'y which are 32 front and 64 rear. Based on that I used their 32/65 setup and the difference between the 133 and 130 was 23.106" to 22.272" (measurement is from front pulley center to rear axle center) which is a difference of .834" so a 131 tooth would be approximately .558 center to center distance less or 22.548" now if you have 3/4" axle and have at least 5/8" from the front of the axle to the swing arm you should be able to do it. I might be tight but is possible.
