Default Should the clutch "slip" on to the tranny shaft?

Hello, I have a problem with my clutch assembly sliding on to the tranny shaft.... I've got a brand new BDL 9s open primary and a 1996 H-D tranny... The splines on the tranny don't look distorted or wore off, they're also clean... I've seen videos of this just sliding freely all the way.. Mine goes on about an inch or so and jams.. Didn't and don't want to use any force yet... Should I recondition the splines somehow or carefully tap it on with a rubber mallet? How "should" this go on??? Don't want to ruin anything.
Thanks,
Nate

Default Call Bdl

I also use a BDL primary belt drive and have not had any problem putting the clutch basket on the input shaft. I would call bdl and talk with tech support. They're pretty good at answering.

Mine would do the same and I would tap it on with a mallet. Idk if it’s normal or not though
