Default Main shaft socket

Can somebody that has a 1 7/8" main shaft socket measure the length of it end to end. Going to make my own and don't want to go to long or short . TIA

6.5" end to end; don't forget the "donut".

Thank you ,Yes got the socket cut just getting my tools together was planning to hole saw a piece of plywood for the donut.

Well, if the tool is homemade, the donut OD must be made to fit the ID of the socket extension. The donut "hole" must be drilled to fit snug over the main shaft. The donut that is supplied with the aftermarket are 1.85" in OD and the donut hole is threaded to so that it can be threaded onto the main shaft and cannot move as it fits very snug inside the extended socket bore.

Now that the question has been answered...

The nut in question does not go onto the mainshaft, it goes onto the main drive gear...
