inner primary race

On the five speeds you could unbolt the mainshaft from the right side and tap it towards the primary to gain the purchase you need, not so on the 6 speeds. So first off what bike are you working on? If it is a late model 07 and later(06 dyna) you will need to be very careful. Take a die grinder with a cut off wheel and cut a groove in the race, careful to not cut all the way through and also take care to not come into contact with the main drive gear itself. One precaution you can take would be to cult on an angle "/" you can also wrap the threads of the main drive gear in several layers of aluminum tape. The tape will not totally protect it but will give you about a split second of warning before you hit metal. Once you are about 3/4 of the way through the race hit it with a cold chisel in the groove to finish the job.

thanks. it,s an 08 heritage. and those were my thoughts exactly. tried a small wedge behind it and it move it a 16th but no more. pulling the pully looks like it wont give any more room. The rollers were right at the edge of the race. probably the cause of the burn out. race and rollers pitted not to bad. but I learned long ago if not sure of noise dont ride it until sure. your pic looks like strokers. thanks for help.
