Default Shifter Shaft Seal Replacement

Guys/ Gals,
I am in the process of swapping my black inner primary cover to a chrome one. When doing so, I decided to change the shifter shaft seal.
When I changed it, I knocked the seal in PAST flush with the trans case. Is this going to be a big problem?
Reason I'm asking is the bike is 75% re-assembled but the thought of it leaking because I pushed it in to far is haunting me.
Should I tear it all down again and grab a new seal? Or will it be fine?

2005 FLHRCI

Thanks in advance.
