Default 1974 ironhead shifting problems

I have a 1974 ironhead that is having problems shifting from 1st to 2nd without getting stuck in neutral and sometimes gets stuck between 3rd and 4th. I tried adjusting the clutch a few times and then found that the cable was a little frayed so I changed that. Still not sifting right. Is my transmission shot or is there synchronizers that can be repaired/changed. If I do need to change my transmission, can I switch out my 4 speed for a 5 speed?

Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

It may be a drum alignment issue, do you have a service manual?

I too have 79' Ironhead with a 4 speed and the bike pops out of 1st. Was told by PO that it was a bent shift fork. Any info on correcting the issue or as OP asked, can a 5 speed be swapped into the case???? TIA!!!!

We don't have a 5 speed for them, don't know of any one who does.
