Default Torque Setting for Primary Cover Bolts

The recommended torque setting for the primary cover bolts is 84-108 in-lbs. I would like to know what setting is normally used on the wrench. I am trying to avoid stripping the bolts. Thanks.

I think you better recheck your settings. AT 84-108 FOOT POUNDS you're gonna strip them AND break them.

If I were you, I'd use 80-90 INCH POUNDS.

I use 95 INCH pounds to make up for the anti seize I put on the bolts. That decreases friction so I decrease torque. In the end, if you're within the range of torque, torque them all the same and you use the pattern method of tightening; you won't have any leaks.

Those bolts strip easily. I know at least 10 guys that have had to Time Sert the longer bolts. 60-80 in.lb. should be enough to seal the seam and not enough to strip; I wouldn't even use a torque wrench; T-handle tight like gtrracer suggests. If you torque to spec, eventually, you will strip them.

Sort of... you start in the middle, then top to bottom working towards the front, then towards the rear.

Okay....carrying this one step further....T-handle tight, but...to Loctite or not to Loctite?? That is the question!
