2014 ultra slight rattle noise from primary case
Hello, I'm new to the forum and have a question. I have a 2014 Ultra with 4000 miles on it. I have noticed from the beginning the I have a slight rattle not what I would call a knock coming from my primary case right where the chain adjuster is. It can only be heard between 2700 to 3100 rpms in 2 or 3rd gear. If I add or reduce power the sound goes away. I had a 2010 Super Glide before this and don't recall hearing this noise, although I had load pipes. Any other speed and the noise is gone. Not sure if it was there from leaving the dealer new because i always had the sound system on. I finally noticed it at about 1500 miles which is also the first time I turn the sound system off. I this it's the primary chain rolling of the adjuster. Any thoughts or has anybody heard this. I have read that its the compensator. When I asked my dealer service manager is said the same thing.. It's the new style compensator. thanks

Your stock adjuster only has the ability to tighten itself. It cannot loosen. Our M6 automatic primary adjuster floats on springs, moves up and down as the bike requires and we've been doing it over 25 years. Mounts over the existing 2 bolts, set the spring compression measurement and close it up. The stock adjuster will cause a loud whirling, premature wear on your transmission main shaft and crankshaft bearings and seals, not to mention other things that will cause your bike to spend more time in the shop than on the road.
The stock tensioner in my 08' Heritage has been doing fine so far. My bike has about 30k on it, when will it start spending more time in the shop than on the road?

My auto one was perfect until about 80k then it went piano string tight. Ate up my IPB when it went south.
