Proceedure for starter ring gear replacement
hello I have a 2000 FLHR today after washing and waxing my road king I went to start it and go for a ride. well I herd a loud clank and the starter spinning up but do crank.
I pulled the primary off to find many broken teeth on the ring gear. does any one know what the procedure for replacement of the ring gear and the pinion gear on the starter.

Highly recommend that you go with the Spyke 66 tooth conversion while you are replacing the gear. Stronger gear and the improved ratio is easier on your starter. Mine has lasted 12 years on a high-compression motor.
If your starter is spinning freely but the pinion gear is not engaging, check to see if you can turn the smaller gear both directions with your fingers. If so, time for a new starter clutch.

Thank you was also looking at the Compu-Fire 84 Tooth Gear Set but ill check that one out. and my Rk is a SE so its a high compression motor. still need the HD service procedure and torque spec to do the job. Ill double check the pinion gear in the morning.
