Question 2010 FLHXXX clutch problems advice needed

Bought a (used) 2010 FLHXXX 6/14 with 15k miles and the clutch went within 2 weeks. Had a 20k service 6/15 which included a clutch adjustment and headed to Laconia. Within 150 miles of adjustment (and service) the clutch went "again".

HD shop there said that trike clutches go about 20K miles because trikes are too heavy for the clutches??? Does this make sense?

Talked to my home dealership and it was suggested that there might be a "history" with the bike, but I can't find anything.

Been riding 30+ years and never heard of clutches burning out so fast...

Wondering if HD has a problem with clutches and trikes? Any recommendations as I don't want to do another annual clutch replacement next year

Maybe the former owner didn't know how to ride and it was burnt before you got it.The first gear in these new bikes is way too tall to start with and you have to slip the clutch quite a bit to get it rolling as you have probably noticed.

Thumbs down FLHXXX clutch problem

I hear what you are saying, but the problem seems to be carrying forward.

Starting out in a tall first gear is significant, especially when turning or turning uphill, but something is still not right. Is there anything to research on maintenance record of other bikes of this year and the next (only years produced)

The 20k servicing dealership asked about the pressure plates. And there are no "known" problems. Known is the question....

While I am leaning towards a question on the factory recommendations. Might there be a difference in the "factory recommended" FLHX clutch adjustment setting vs the FLHXXX setting? How might I research this?

Default FLHXXX clutch problems Barnett clutches

Does anyone have an opinion if getting a Barnett clutch would solve some of the known problems with the (well known) trike clutches?
