Broke a Bolt

Default Broke a Bolt

Busted one of the bolts for the outer cover-broken off flush with the cover-can i glob a bunch of gasket stuff on it? Whats it take to get that out and redo the threads? Never done that before. DAMN!! thanks alot

Be interesting to know what "outer cover" you are speaking of? Type of bike could be good also.

Regardless of what cover it is, the broken bolt will have to come out and you will more than likely have to clean up or tap the threads.

If there is enough of the broken bolt left to get a pair of vise grips on it, then you should be able to remove it that way (and you probably won't even have to use a tap!)

However, if it broke off flush with the case, you will have to drill it out and re-tap new threads in there.
