I was just wondering, for those of you fortunate to have one. Does a Baker trans require a rebuild every x miles like a stocker does?

I realize that engine mods and riding styles come into play here, I am just asking a general based sort of question here, so I can get a rough idea how many times I can rebuild my stock 96 fxdwg trans before I end up spending the same amount on rebuild(s) as I would just to buy a Baker.

All will eventually need a rebuild. The difference is in the quality and engineering of parts.

A stock 5 speed is as good as any transmission out there, in my opinion. And you can find spare gearsets all over for small money.

You are not going to save money by buying a Baker transmission, unless Mark throws you a free one...

Free get's me a trip to the unemployment line. You do get a 10% forums discount. To answer the question, bearings are usually the first to go but changing the fluids every 5000 will keep it going for quite a while. Met a guy the other day that has 186,000 on his Baker 6 speed and he's done nothing other then change the fluid.
