Oil leak
Hi,
I've been getting a small puddle of oil under my 1991 1200 sportster, after a longish ride . It appears to be coming from the gearbox breather pipe. It has the correct amount of oil in it. Does anyone have any experience of the same problem or any ideas as to what could be causing it?
Thanks
Scott

Scott, welcome to HDF from the UK. Hot oil can travel quite a long way! Where the puddle is will be underneath a convenient (to it) low point, off which it can drip and may be some way from where the oil first got out. Older Harleys in particular are fond of leaving their mark wherever they stop for a while.
Typical places it may have come from include the seals around the gear lever shaft and kicker (if you have one), also the rear pulley shaft, in fact anywhere in the casings where something sticks out from inside, including the drain plugs. You need to do a little detective work, to see if you can narrow down where the sneaky stuff is coming from.
