Default Downshift issues - May or may not engage

Hello All,

I ride a 2011 FLTRUSE (~26k miles on it) and love every minute on it. I have however started to notice that when I downshift, sometimes it does not do anything....It will eventually work, but it is getting worse. It does no happen at all when shifting up thru the gears. It feels like there is nothing there to catch onto...It does not happen all the time, but again, it is happening more often..

As I am not a bike mechanic, I am not sure where to start looking...My warranty ran out last month.... ;-(

What things should I check?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards,

Kevin

When's the last time your tranny was serviced? Is the shifter solid, or wobbly? Any previous problems w/the tranny/shifting?

IMO, even though your warranty just expired, take 'er in & see if they'll grandfather your coverage...especially if the problem was existent before coverage lapsed. Worth a try...

My first guess would be a loose shift lever. The shift lever that connects the shift rod from the foot controls to the transmission.

Check your arms like as been suggested. I'd bet that is it. If you need to change the arm on the transmission. You can't go wrong with the Baker, and it is the only replacement I will use.

Now if they just made a replacement for the front one. hint, hint.
