no compensator!!!!

no compensator!!!!
i was replacing inner primary bearing, my SE comp was noisy, it was doing the occasional slam bang when starting. I replace it with a sprocket. I wish I had done this years ago. The sprocket weighs 4.8 lbs less than the comp. Quicker revs for sure. The bike is smoother everywhere. I have about 100 miles on it now the bike seems better in all situations, no vibrations anywhere. There is no noise in the primary, Harley compensators are a joke.

Congrats on getting rid of the compensator! I did that on my shovel when I put a belt primary and it has been fine.
I have just recently experienced the nightmare scenario the twin cam offers with the compensator. (And everything else twin cam)
While the shovel has a stout flywheel and I don't think a lack of compensator will affect it, I don't know if I would trust the twin cam to hold up as well. I guess I wouldn't ride it like I stole it with a stock flywheel at least.
I could be wrong of course and hope yours works and lasts for the life of the bike, I just know my 07 was a piece of junk and had to replace it.

IM battling another garbage SE compensator right now, and im struggling spending $500 on the baker unit without a hug and a BJ.
Thanks!

John at Darkhorse did mine. Forged rods, pinned, trued and welded.
There is so many mixed opinions on this.
This is a hard choice.
I did just email John at Darkhorse and ask his opinion on this, as he did my crank/flywheel assembly. I would trust what he tells me. Anxiously awating his reply.

I'll give you a hug but you're on your own with the other.

I am wondering what John says on the subject. If this poor design fails again I'd rather get rid of it and just add a sprocket.
