Default 97 883 clutch bearing

Never been on a forum before... Needless to say I'm a diesel mechanic and ride dirt bikes my whole life so when your hear what I ****ed up don't judge me. Bought an 97 883 of craigslist replaced the stator which was easy enough but had no idea the primary case needed it's own oil (as I said dirt bikes never needed this thought nothing of it) well rode it to work and on the way home sounded like a turbine from the primary case. I thought maby I over Tightend the chain but after finding out that i was supposed to put oil in it I think I ****ed up a bearing.. Just want an opinion if any one thinks it's just the throw out bearing and do I need special tools to pinch it out?

Didn't a quart of oil spill all over the floor when you opened the primary? Also, I will be the first to post it RTFM ( Read The F'in Manual)

As for your question, take it apart and see what looks like it got hot . The bearing will be blued or black.

Every bike manufacturer has a style...best you study the Harley way of Things... It is really oddball from the perspectives of diesels and or metrics... Spend some serious time reading before you again mistake what you imagine for what you know. Meantime, don't feel bad - everybody makes blunders...I've ruined more machinery than I care to remember!

Pulled the primary apart. Has metal shavings on drain plug. Don't think the throw bearing was bad but I don't know how too really it spins and isn't clunking so I am guessing my problems worse

Well, if things look ok in the primary it's time to learn about the sportster transmission...

Actually these are easy... Have fun!
