Primary doesn't have o ring. Just screws in and is easy yo strip out. I always use a torque wrench on this one just to be sure and wrap threads with teflon tape as I do all drain plugs. Clean up good and make sure thats where its leaking and not outer primary seal. If it is leaking at plug pull it and clean up. Retorque and make sure its not all ready striped.

man, its hard to tell where the leak is.... after the bike is riden, then brought home and parked ,about 15 minutes or so later there will be a small drip the size of a qtr there, and thats it, it dont continue to leak...looked around under there and it is wet looking underneath also, directly behind the primary plug, behind the sprockett.

The reason I say clean it good is that the starter jack shaft seal is bad to go leaking. It is located on the back side of primary and above the drain plug so if not cleaned up hard to teal where its coming from. Get some degreaser and clean it real good and dry it well. Then take a short ride. Not long just enoug to make it start leaking.Get a peace of white paper towel of tolet paper and start dabbing (not rubbing) around looking for oil on the paper. The fact that it stops leaking makes me think if might be a seal.

you would think it would be easier to see where it comes from.. I thought it was the plug, but Now I dont think so... Like I said, it happens after a ride and only leaks about a quarter size spot and dont continue to leak... you have the primary plug and behind there, there is a large sprockett and behind that sprockett it looks wet...

Sure it will be fine. Not something that is going to go out catastrofically. Just pisses you off good. lol Fixing it is not hard just takes time as the inner primary has to come off. Only special tools is a locking bar that I can tell you how to make easy and a 1 1/2 inch socket. Need the manual and I don't believe that year modles shop manual tells you that starter bolts have to be backed out to drop the inner. Not removed just backed out.

My 02 Wideglide started doing the same thing shortly after I got it a year and a half ago. Turned out to be the inner seal. Had it fixed during my 5000 mile service. Even though I bought it used from an individual, the dealer didn't charge for fix since they sold it new and it only had 5000 miles on it. No problem leaking since then.
