compensator spring pack
I read in a thread here about not being able to move the compensator well i noticed on mine i could move it the last time i had the primary cover off,does any one know were i can get some info on were i can get a spring pack or maybe another compensator for a 1982 fxr 80 ci,thanks for any help

If our comps operate in the same way, then I'd say try and unscrew the nut holding your comp to the crank. If you can do it with anything other than a breaker bar, it's not torqued down correctly. Also, if it is loose, it’s a good time to pull the assembly out, take a look at all of the metal, especially the crank grooves and anything that fills those groves (comp, sprocket, rotor) for damage.

There is a stamped steel cup inside that year compensator. It is probally worn. The outer edge of the cup makes contact with the spring pack and the inner edge makes contact with the extension shaft. It usually wears where it makes contact with the extension shaft. Probally worn to half its original thickness. Replace the cup and torque to specs.
