more on compensating sprocket
G'day all, my bike is a 1999 FXDX and 38,000kms on the dial.
Due a recent noise increase in the primary and slight debris on the drain plug, I have removed the primary cover for a visual. The nut appears to be tight and there does not seem to be any significant signs of wear to the sprockets or chain. I have not attempted to remove the clutch and compensating sprocket.
When viewed from above looking at the compensating sprocket cams, the splines of the shaft extension are clearly visible as there is a 10mm+ gap between the cams of the sprocket and sliding cam, exposing the splines. Is this normal or should the cams make contact with minimum gap and exposure of the splines?
